President Zelenskyy holds negotiations with Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is on an official visit to Ukraine. On 25 August, he met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to discuss Russia's blockade of the Black Sea grain corridor, as well as the Peace Formula and preparations for the Global Summit on its implementation.

The visit of the head of Turkish diplomacy, along with recent statements by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, once again confirmed that Turkey consistently supports Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty. Zelenskyy himself spoke about the key topics of the negotiations with Fidan.

"Meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. Many important issues were discussed: The formula for peace, preparations for the Global Peace Summit, the risks associated with Russia's blockade of the Black Sea grain corridor. I thank Turkey for its constant and consistent support of Ukraine!" - the Head of State said, publishing a short video report from the meeting.

The Office of the President of Ukraine provided more details about the negotiations with the Turkish Foreign Minister. During the negotiations, Zelenskyy thanked Turkey, represented by Hakan Fidan, for its constant and consistent support for Ukraine, as well as for the diplomatic efforts of the Turkish leadership, and the President in particular, to end the war and restore stability and security in the Black Sea region.

Zelenskyy also thanked Turkey for its humanitarian support and assistance in the release of Ukrainian prisoners of war.

At the same time, the head of state emphasised the importance of Erdogan's address to the participants of the international Crimean Platform summit. Speaking via video link at the opening of the summit on 23 August, the Turkish leader noted that Turkey recognises Russia-occupied Crimea as an integral part of Ukraine.

"Turkey does not recognise the annexation of Crimea and has firmly condemned the illegality of this action from the very beginning. We continue to support the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine. We have always stated in every platform, including the UN, that Crimea is part of Ukraine. The security and well-being of Crimean Tatars is also one of our priorities," Erdogan said at the time.

Zelenskyy is convinced that such statements are extremely important for Ukraine and the international community as a whole.

"We heard very important signals of support for our territorial integrity and sovereignty. It is important that President Erdogan addressed us with the words that Crimea is Ukraine," the President said during a meeting with the Turkish Foreign Minister.

During the negotiations, the parties discussed the risks associated with Russia's blockade of the Black Sea grain corridor and touched upon the implementation of the Ukrainian peace formula.

"Turkey has become one of the first leaders of the Peace Formula. We count on further active role of the Republic of Turkey in its implementation," the Head of State said.

The head of Turkish diplomacy confirmed the statement made by Erdoğan and emphasised his country's unwavering support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine. He also acknowledged the importance of the peace formula proposed by Ukraine.

On 17 August, it was reported that Turkey was ready to guarantee the passage of ships with Ukrainian grain through the Bosporus and the Dardanelles.

This was reported by Haber Global TV channel, citing sources in the Turkish Ministry of National Defence.

The publication also noted that the Turkish defence ministry stated that so far "not a single ship has left Ukraine. But if it arrives, it will be allowed through the straits".
