Will he end his career? Joshua's promoter hints at what Usyk is going to do after defeating Fury in a rematch

Hearn assessed Usyk's prospects

The unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs) has no intention of retiring but will continue to compete in the division after his victory in a rematch over Tyson Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs) and will try to become the owner of all the belts again. The compatriot aims to do what no boxer in history has ever managed to do – become a three-time absolute champion.

This was announced by promoter Eddie Hearn on the DAZN video platform after the victory of his ward Jay Opetaia (27-0, 21 KOs) at a boxing night in Australia. The head of Matchroom Boxing, who also manages Anthony Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs), noted that he would be happy to organize a fight against the Ukrainian for his client.

"Opetaia is going to win all the heavyweight belts to become an absolute champion, and then we want to bring him to fight Oleksandr Usyk to try to become an absolute in the super heavyweight division as well. You have to strive for greatness, and he's good enough for that... I think he's the only man, whether it's at heavyweight or super heavyweight, who can really give Oleksandr Usyk a real, real fight – but to do that, we need to win all the cruiserweight belts first," Hearn said.

The day before, there was information about Usyk's unexpected heavyweight opponent. The Ukrainian has already been challenged by Daniel Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs), the holder of the International Boxing Federation (IBF) heavyweight belt.

The Briton is looking forward to a rematch with our compatriot after his defeat in August 2023. Back then, Oleksandr defeated his opponent by TKO in the ninth round, and the Londoner scored with a dirty punch below the belt.

Earlier it became known that Usyk may give up one of the championship belts to return to the ring of the legendary Wladimir Klitschko (64-5-0-1, 54 KOs).
