World heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) has been suspended from boxing for medical reasons, The Athletic insider Mike Coppinger reports on social network X, citing the president of the Middle East Boxing Commission, Jose Mohan. The Ukrainian will not be able to box until July 2.

Coppinger also said that the Usyk-Fury rematch was originally scheduled for October 12, but the head of Saudi Arabia's General Authority for Entertainment, Turki Al-Al-Sheikh, postponed it to December 21.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, on May 18 in Riyadh, Usyk defeated WBC champion Tyson Fury and became the owner of the WBA, WBO, IBF, and WBC heavyweight belts.

After the fight, the Ukrainian champion recorded a video for the whole country showing numerous hematomas and bruises on his face.

On May 19, it became known that Usyk would only remain the absolute champion until June 1, 2024, as his mandatory IBF title defense against Filip Hrgovic was overdue.
