"Usyk knows now": boxing legend tells how Fury-Ngannou fight affected Ukrainian

Former world champion in four weight categories Roy Jones Jr. expressed confidence that Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs) will now be considered the favorite for the fight against Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs). Expert opinions will be influenced by the unconvincing performance of the Gypsy King in the fight with Francis Ngannou (0-1, 0 KOs).

The legendary American boxer, who is an admirer of the Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin, said this in an interview with ProBox TV. The former athlete, who received a Russian Federation passport in 2015, added that Usyk gained additional confidence in his victory over the Briton.

"Usyk has another surge of confidence. Usyk now knows that he can easily handle any heavyweight. The odds will change, many bookmakers will now make Usyk a favorite. Some will make almost equal quotes. However, let's keep in mind that Fury knew he wasn't fighting Usyk. He did not train and did not fight Usyk. He trained with Ngannou in mind, who he thought he could easily beat. When he goes and trains thinking about Usyk, he will be a different boxer. You have to keep that in mind," Jones Jr. said.

The Gypsy King defeated Ngannou only by split decision, and in the third round he was knocked out. This is the seventh time in his career that the Briton has been knocked out.

It was planned that immediately after the Fury vs. Ngannou fight, the date of the British champion's fight with Usyk would be announced. However, due to the autopsy and other injuries to the winner, this was not done. The photos show how Tyson looked like after 33 missed punches in the fight.
