Liudmyla Luzan was unexpectedly absent from the starting list

Ukrainian rower Liudmyla Luzan did not take part in the consolation final in canoeing at the 2024 Olympics. Luzan, along with Anastasiia Rybachok, had won silver in the double sculls the day before.

On August 10, both Luzan and Rybachok participated in the 500-meter singles but failed to qualify for the finals, finishing last in their semifinal heats.

In the B final, where places 8 through 16 were played out, Luzan was unexpectedly absent from the starting list, which caused the commentator to be genuinely surprised.

Later, it was reported that Lyudmyla felt discomfort in her back after the semifinals and refused to compete. The coaching staff decided not to risk her health again and decided to take care of the athlete.

As a result, Rybachok finished second to last.
