Yastremska reached the 1/16 finals of the Australian Open 2025

Ukrainian tennis player Diana Yastremska has made it to the third round of the first Grand Slam tournament of the season, the Australian Open 2025. Our compatriot simply blew her Montenegrin opponent Danka Kovinic off the court, giving her only one game – 6:0, 6:1.

The match lasted only 51 minutes. During this time, the Odesa player served three times, realized six out of seven breakpoints, and won 18 active games.

Jastremska recorded one double and six unforced errors. Diana scored the biggest win of her career at the Melbourne Open. Prior to that, in 2018, she defeated Slovenia's Kaia Jugan with a score of 6:1, 6:1.

Our compatriot will compete for a ticket to the 1/8 finals of the Australian Open 2025 in a match against the seventh world number one Elena Rybakina from Kazakhstan.

This will be the first time the tennis players will meet each other on a professional court. Moreover, the athletes have never played in Melbourne with representatives of the countries whose flags they defend.

It is worth noting that Elina Svitolina also became a participant of the 1/16 finals, defeating American Caroline Dolehide – 6:1, 6:4.
