Ukraine simplifies import of critical equipment for the Armed Forces: MPs adopt law
Ukraine will exempt from value-added tax (VAT) and customs duties the import of radar devices, electronic warfare (EW) equipment, and body armor plates. Such devices and goods are essential for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The respective draft laws No. 10341 and No. 10342 were adopted by the Verkhovna Rada (Parliament) in both the first and second readings. During both votes, 323 MPs voted in favor, said Yaroslav Zheleznyak (Holos), first deputy chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Taxation and Customs Policy.
Both bills are authored by the chairman of the committee, Danylo Hetmantsev (Servant of the People). "The Verkhovna Rada supported my draft laws 10341 and 10342 on the tax exemption of radar devices and platinum for body armor. These changes are essential for our victory," commented Hetmantsev.
This is not the first time that goods needed by the army have been exempted from import taxes. In particular, VAT and import duties have been exempted:
- anti-drone rifles, thermal imaging monoculars equipped with an infrared detector with a built-in camera function, binoculars with a rangefinder function;
- components and materials for the assembly of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs);
- drones, thermal imagers and radios;
- gunpowder, explosives, special chemicals for ammunition, etc.
As OBOZ.UA reported earlier, the share of profits for foreign components in the production of drones was raised to 25%. This will allow attracting more companies to produce UAVs in Ukraine, i.e. launching mass production of drones in the country.
