The Soviet Fish set used to be in almost every home. It was kept as a decoration and never used. Perhaps this was because most people simply did not know what it was actually intended for.

FoodOboz.ua figured out how to use the "Fish" set correctly and what exactly it is intended for. It turns out that this set is known all over the world.

The history of the "Fish" set

The artist Abesalom Davidovich Baramidze, who lived in Riga, first presented this set in 1950. Unfortunately, it has not survived to this day, but there is information that the set was presented in two colors: white and gold.

In 1956, this set went on a real journey, where it gained worldwide fame at various ceramics exhibitions. In 1960, the set was produced in Riga and Tbilisi. A year later, the Polonsky Porcelain Factory in the Khmelnytsky region and the Horodnytsia Porcelain Factory in the Zhytomyr region began mass production.

At the same time, the set received its official name "Family of Carp" and was made in white-red and white-blue colors. The production of the set continued for the next 30 years.

How to use the "Fish" set correctly?

The set includes a carp-shaped decanter and 6 "fry". The volume of the decanter is 700 ml, and there are 30 fry. From this we can understand that it is intended for serving and pouring alcoholic beverages.

In simple terms, the Fish set is an ordinary decanter with glasses. However, pouring alcohol from it, as well as drinking from the stacks, turned out to be quite inconvenient. That is why the main purpose of buying such a set was to decorate the house. It was rarely used for its intended purpose.
