The local authorities did not allow Polish carriers to start a new blockade of the border with Ukraine: what is happening

Mayor of Dorohusk Wojciech Sawa did not permit a new blockade

The mayor of the Polish commune of Dorohusk, Wojciech Sawa, has prohibited carriers from initiating a new blockade on the border with Ukraine. The Yagodyn-Dorogusk checkpoint has been unblocked since December 11, as the mayor of Dorohusk withdrew permission for the protest. However, on Wednesday, December 13, the strikers announced their intention to close the border to trucks again.

This was reported by the Polish edition of RMF24. It is noted that the organizers of the previous lockdown have filed a new application for a second blockade of the border, which was supposed to begin on December 18.

The new protest was meant to resemble the previous one. However, the mayor of Dorohusk did not approve the carriers' application, preventing them from organizing the blockade again.

The strikers said they would go to court, and on December 14, they would file new applications for protests in several locations.

Revoking the permission to protest at the entrance to the border crossing with Ukraine, Wojciech Sawa cited a legal reason - a threat to property in significant amounts. This includes financial losses for entrepreneurs.

The mayor noted that the border blockade affected not only drivers. Entrepreneurs, workers, and other social groups are losing money - this is a decisive factor, emphasized Wojciech Sawa.

As a reminder, Polish carriers led by far-right politician Rafal Mekler failed to re-block the largest checkpoint on the border between Ukraine and Poland, Yahodyn-Dorohusk. On the night of December 12, they attempted to completely block the traffic with an allegedly "broken" truck but failed to create queues again.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, the blockade of the Yahodyn-Dorohusk checkpoint on the border with Ukraine ended on December 11. Truck traffic resumed due to a political decision - the local authorities revoked the permission to strike.
