Shevchenko has completed his coaching career - media

Oleksandr ChekanovNews
Andriy Shevchenko coached the national team of Ukraine

The legendary striker of Dynamo Kyiv, Andriy Shevchenko, has no plans to return to coaching. The former coach of the national team of Ukraine and Italian Genoa received an offer to lead the national team of Azerbaijan, but he categorically refused.

This is reported by Sportinfo.az portal. The Football Federation of Azerbaijan (FFA) began searching for a new national team coach after the resignation of Italian specialist Gianni De Biasi and turned to Shevchenko. However, the legendary forward did not even enter into negotiations.

He stated that he did not intend to return to coaching, but would instead head the Ukrainian Football Association (UAF). Extraordinary elections for the new head of the organization will be held on January 25.

After Shevchenko's refusal, the FFA leadership turned to another Ukrainian legend, Oleh Blokhin, the best scorer in the history of Dynamo Kyiv and a World Cup quarterfinalist, as the coach of our country's national team. However, the Azerbaijanis received a similar refusal from him.

Andriy Shevchenko was fired because of transfers

It should be noted that Shevchenko has been unemployed for two years after leaving Genoa. He is the only candidate for the UAF presidency. Before the Italian club, the former striker led the Ukrainian national team for five years, with which he reached the quarterfinals of Euro 2020.

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, Ukrainian national team striker Artem Dobvyk was recognized as the best player of December in the Spanish football championship.
