Russian former world champion calls on Fury to use forbidden punches to defeat Usyk
The British boxer Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs) needs to use dirty tricks in his fight against Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs) to win the fight on May 18. At the same time, the form and readiness of the Gypsy King, as the Manchester native is called, will remain a mystery to everyone until the boxers enter the ring.
This opinion was expressed by former world heavyweight champion Denis Lebedev in an interview with the R-Sport propaganda news agency. According to him, our champion's plan for the fight is absolutely obvious, as Usyk will surely rely on his speed and lightness.
"We can say that Usyk doesn't like a straight fight, he's a fan of the classics. Movement on the feet, jab, methodical body-head work. How Usyk will work is pretty clear. But Fury, his form, is always a mystery. He needs to impose a fight, he knows how to do it. He needs to use forbidden techniques that some judges either deliberately overlook or allow," Lebedev said.
The fight was originally scheduled for February 17, but the Gypsy King suffered a cut during sparring two weeks before the show. Tyson apologized for his injury, and a video of the incident was posted online.
The Briton also made a statement about retirement. The main reasons why Fury will not be able to refuse to enter the ring against the Ukrainian again were named.
When asked about the fake nature of the injury, Usyk criticized the Gypsy King. In addition, the fans reacted angrily to the situation.
The incident was also commented on by Croatian boxer Agron Smakic (20-2, 18 KOs), who dealt Fury the ill-fated blow. But ex-champion Carl Froch called the British fighter's injury suspicious.
Bookmakers reacted unexpectedly to the postponement of the Usyk-Fury fight, changing one of the quotes on its outcome. Two conditions were also revealed that the Ukrainian demanded to fulfill when he agreed to postpone the return fight on February 17. In addition, the media announced Tyson and Oleksandr's fees for the show.
As OBOZ.UA previously reported, promoter Oleksandr Krasiuk shared Oleksandr Usyk's plans after he fights Tyson Fury.
