Legendary striker Andriy Shevchenko has become the new president of the Ukrainian Football Association (UAF). The former forward of Dynamo Kyiv, AC Milan, and the national team of Ukraine became the sixth head of the organization, replacing Andriy Pavelko.

This became known following a meeting of the UAF extraordinary congress on January 25. Shevchenko's candidacy was supported almost unanimously – out of 94 delegates, 93 voted for the outstanding striker. One member of the congress abstained.

Shevchenko, who was the only candidate in the election, became the sixth president of the UAF, which was previously known as the Football Federation of Ukraine (FFU). Before him, the position was held by Dynamo Kyiv legend Viktor Bannikov, former Prime Minister Valeriy Pustovoitenko, UEFA honorary member Hryhoriy Surkis, Shakhtar Donetsk legend Anatoliy Konkov, and Andriy Pavelko.

Vice presidents and members of the UAF Executive Committee were also elected. Pavlo Boichuk, Serhiy Rebrov, and Oleksandr Shevchenko became Shevchenko's deputies. The executive committee includes Oleksandr Zinchenko, Serhiy Vladyko, Oleksandr Kadenko, Yevhen Dykyi, Mykola Pavlov, Kateryna Monzul, Andriy Poltavets and Artem Stoyanov.

Earlier it became known that Shevchenko decided not to engage in coaching anymore. He received an offer to lead the Azerbaijani national team, but he categorically refused.

We would like to remind you that the now ex-head of the UAF, Andriy Pavelko, is under investigation in a case of financial fraud and embezzlement of UEFA funds during the construction of an artificial grass plant, as well as the purchase of products for the then Football Federation of Ukraine. The official has been in jail since June 16.
