The Kyiv City Council has awarded the title of "Honorary Citizen of Kyiv" to Lina Kostenko and Valerii Zaluzhnyi. The honors were presented to the famous Ukrainians by Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko.

The Kyiv mayor announced this on his Telegram channel. The event took place at the home of the prominent writer.

"Today, by a decision of the Kyiv City Council, the capital expressed its respect and honor and awarded the title of "Honorary Citizen of Kyiv" to two people who are real moral authorities for Kyivans and all Ukrainians – Lina Kostenko and Valerii Zaluzhnyi," Klitschko said.

The Mayor of Kyiv reminded that for many years Lina Kostenko has been personifying the indestructibility and free and talented soul of Ukrainians, as well as the spirit of freedom and courage.

General Valerii Zaluzhnyi was honored for his personal services during the defense of the capital and in the protection of Ukraine's sovereignty and freedom.

"I was very pleased to present the awards to Lina Kostenko and Valerii Zaluzhnyi at Lina's home," Klitschko added.
