It will be everywhere in the spring: "old-fashioned" color returns to trends
Spring is always the time of year when color returns to our wardrobe. Of course, spring-summer fashion collections also contain more colors, and this year experts note that a shade that has long been considered old-fashioned has returned to the catwalks.
According to Who What Wear, it's a subtle, light lavender shade of purple. This color has been coming back into fashion for many decades, as it helps to create feminine looks and suits almost everyone. That is why it is considered to be somewhat old-fashioned. You can find lavender items in vintage magazines, and references to it in classical literature.
Nevertheless, many fashion brands used this shade in their S/S 2025 shows. Thus, Versace combined lavender with bright green tones to emphasize its life-affirming spirit. And Bottega Veneta stylized the beautiful shade with gray and cool blue to make it more elegant. In turn, Issey Miyake stuck to a neutral color palette, combining a pastel shade of lavender with a black base.
At the same time, stylists say that it is not necessary to wait for spring to start wearing lavender. For the cold season, you can combine it with its basic colors – rich burgundy or deep chocolate brown. As summer approaches, just start replacing the dark layers with a soft creamy yellow or a fairly pale blue for a modern take on pastel colors in your wardrobe.
It is noteworthy that lavender colors have also become a favorite among celebrities. Thus, Zoe Kravitz came to the Gotham Awards 2024 at the end of last year in a pale lavender Saint Laurent dress. Her colleague Jennifer Lopez, in the first days of 2025, attended the Variety Creative Impact Awards in a lavender mini-dress with a long transparent cape.
