Short biography

Born and raised in the Bronx, a poor neighborhood in New York City in a family of Puerto Ricans Guadalupe Rodriguez and David Lopez. Jennifer grew up on one of the streets that have gained notoriety - Black Rock Avenue. Lopez received her high school education at a Catholic school. She also went to an all-girls school. She also studied singing and choreography at a specialized institution since childhood. After graduation, Lopez took a job in a law office where she worked during the day; at night she performed in nightclubs. The first success in her career as a dancer was a spot on the backstage of the band New Kids on the Block. After that, Jennifer danced for many rap singers, as well as Janet Jackson and Marc Anthony.

Lopez starred in several television series, including South Central, Second Chances and Hotel Malibu. She made her big screen debut in the film My Family. This was followed by a role in the action film Money Train, where her film partner was Wesley Snipes. Lopez's first major role was in Selena (1997), for which she was nominated for a Golden Globe Award. This was followed by several commercially unsuccessful films such as "Maid Mistress", "Gigli", "If My Mother-in-law is a Monster".

Jennifer's debut album On the 6 (named after the subway route Lopez took to school) was released on June 1, 1999 and reached #10 on the Billboard 200. The first single from the album, "If You Had My Love," held the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for several weeks, an undeniable success. Lopez's second studio album was J.Lo, released on January 23, 2001. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and did not leave it for six weeks. The subsequent albums This Is Me... Then and Rebirth did not make the top places, though they sold well. Jennifer Lopez's first Spanish-language album Como Ama una Mujer (As a Woman Loves) was released in Europe on March 23, 2007 and in the United States on March 27, 2007. The first single was the song "Que Hiciste?" ("What Have You Done?").

Lopez is also a successful businesswoman. She owns the clothing line JLo by Jennifer Lopez, which produces clothing aimed at young women. In 2005, she launched a new clothing brand Sweetface. On April 12, 2002, Lopez opened Madre's Cuban restaurant in Pasadena, California. Lopez had her greatest success in the perfume business. Her first fragrance Glow by J.Lo broke sales records.

Lopez's first husband was Ojani Noa, who worked as a waiter in Miami at the time. The couple married February 22, 1997, but the marriage lasted not long - exactly one year later, Lopez and Noah parted ways. This was followed by a relationship with Sean Combs, and an unsuccessful marriage to Chris Judd, a former backup dancer. In 2002, Lopez began dating actor Ben Affleck. They, nicknamed Bennifer by journalists, became the most popular couple in Hollywood. In November 2002, the couple announced their engagement. However, the wedding, scheduled for September 14, 2004, was canceled a few hours before the ceremony. Shortly after breaking up with Affleck, Lopez began dating Marc Anthony. The couple married on June 5, 2004, just one week after Anthony divorced his first wife, Dianara Torres. On February 22, 2008, Lopez gave birth to twins - son Max and daughter Emmy.
