"It is important for me to hear": Kharlan talks about her relationship with Usyk

Two-time Olympic champion Olga Kharlan is trying to learn from the experience of former world heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk. The saber fencer noted that she has known the boxer for a long time and maintains friendly relations with him, being interested in his philosophy.

Kharlan said this in an interview with sport-express.ua. The 33-year-old native of Kherson, who became the most decorated Ukrainian athlete at the 2024 Olympics, noted that Usyk shares with her his methods of preparing for fights and training features.

"Sasha is very simple. We have known each other for a long time. We first met at the Beijing Olympics in 2008. Since then, we have been in touch. I really admire him as an athlete and as a person. It is important for me to hear about his experience in some important issues. It's interesting in general: when I communicate with representatives of other sports, I am very interested in understanding the mentality and some details, I take something for myself. Sasha is very positive and cool," Kharlan said.
