It became known what happened to Mazepa's saber, which Usyk showed in the ring after defeating Fury
The saber of Ukrainian Hetman Ivan Mazepa, which Oleksandr Usyk raised above his head after his victory over Tyson Fury in Saudi Arabia, has returned to Ukraine, the State Customs Service (SCS) reported. The fight took place on December 21 at the Kingdom Arena in the Saudi capital Riyadh.
The Ukrainian holder of the WBA, WBC and WBO heavyweight championship belts defended his title and after the victory raised a unique artifact above his head, showing it to millions of viewers around the world.
A historical relic of the 17th century temporarily left the Chernihiv Regional Historical Museum named after Tarnovsky for exhibition abroad. Its use has become a symbol of the great history of the Ukrainian people.
Kyiv Customs has completed the return of the saber in accordance with Ukrainian law. All necessary procedures were followed.
"The appearance of the Ukrainian Hetman's weapon on the world stage was a testament to our heroic past and present, a reflection of the Hetmanate era, and also demonstrated the strength and spirit of Ukrainians," the press service of the State Customs Service said.
