It became a "curse" for them: five actors whose lives were ruined by one movie role

Victoria RyapolovaNews
For the actors, these roles were a challenge

No one on planet Earth is perfect: everyone makes mistakes, including Hollywood stars. Surprisingly enough, popular films brought disappointment to the heroes of our selection. By the way, they played the main roles in them. Some of them paid with their careers, others with their health.

OBOZREVATEL will tell you why the stars of Die Hard, Battlefield: Earth, and Scooby-Doo had to suffer. Few people suspected that these films were a real test for them (to see the photos, scroll to the end).

Bruce Willis in "Die Hard"

It would seem that this cult action movie could not have ruined the life of American actor Bruce Willis. The film captivated audiences around the world and brought fame to the actor, but it also ruined his health. During the filming, an accident occurred, as a result of which the star of the movie partially lost his hearing. Even 35 years later, the situation has not improved.

George Clooney in "Syriana"

Actor George Clooney won numerous awards, including an Oscar, for the political thriller directed by Stephen Gaghan, which premiered in 2005. However, few people know that the actor suffered a traumatic brain injury on the set, which led to prolonged severe headaches and side effects. He had to undergo several surgeries and extensive rehabilitation to return to his normal life.

Madonna in "Swept Away"

The British-Italian melodrama directed by Guy Ritchie and starring Madonna and Adriano Giannini was premiered on October 8, 2002. This film proved that the legendary singer should not act in movies as the audience and directors sharply doubted her talent. "Swept Away" became a real sensation at the box office, grossing over $600,000 in theaters, while it cost only $10 million to make. For her role, Madonna received the "award" for "Worst Actress" and "Worst Screen Couple" at the Golden Raspberry ceremony. Since then, the celebrity has not been perceived as an actress. And she vowed never to act in a movie again.

John Travolta in "Battlefield Earth"

The film, which describes the consequences of the invasion of Earth by alien Psychlos starring Travolta, was named as one of the worst films of our time by The Guardian. It cost the creators $73 million and brought in less than $30 million. The cinematic failure affected not only John's life but also the lives of all the actors involved in the project. Their careers declined, and their fees almost halved.

Freddie Prinze Jr. in "Scooby-Doo"

American actor Freddie Prinze Jr. was an extremely popular artist in the 90s. However, the new millennium brought many changes to the celebrity. Although filmmakers still wanted to release romantic comedies with the star, the audience became less interested in him. Freddie experienced a series of failures in the first few years of the decade and decided to try playing the blond paranormal investigator Fred in the Scooby-Doo movie. Despite good box office receipts, the 2002 cartoon was criticized, prompting Prinze Jr. to leave the set for good.

Earlier, OBOZREVATEL showed how the actors from the Harry Potter movie have changed 22 years after the filming. Many of them are no longer alive. The public favorite Robbie Coltrane, who played the role of Hagrid, died at the age of 72 last October, and the death of Alan Rickman in 2016, who embodied potions teacher Severus Snape on the screens, was a big blow to fans.
