"I'm going through a trauma": Harlan makes confession after winning bronze at 2024 Olympics
Ukrainian saber fencer Olga Harlan admitted that she still does not understand that she has won a bronze medal at the Olympic Games, which are currently taking place in Paris. Commenting on her victory over Choi Siben from South Korea, our compatriot said that she tried to demonstrate the character of our country.
Harlan's words are quoted by an OBOZ.UA correspondent from the scene. "I still don't understand what happened and where. I understand that I was at the Olympics and felt all the excitement and horror that I had before the competition. I was afraid that I would lose the first fight, as I did in Tokyo. These are your fears and traumas that we go through. I did have a trauma after Tokyo, and I'm still going through it. And this shows that I am Ukrainian, that I am strong. And I can't even explain how I did it," Harlan said.
She also added that she dedicates her medal to the entire country and especially to the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. "I'm still shocked, but I'm very happy for our country that I brought some good news for the guys on the front line. Because many people watch me and know me, I met so many guys after the World Cup. Oh my God, I'm going to cry now. The boys and girls who are defending us, this is for you. And I want to say about those athletes who could not come here because they were killed by Russia, and I dedicate this to them," the athlete said.
Olga also mentioned her grandparents, who could not wait to see their granddaughter's next victory. "I also dedicate this to my family, it's a shame that my grandparents couldn't see this because they left me a year ago. But I think they are proud of me," the Ukrainian summarized.
This is Harlan's fifth medal at the fourth Olympic Games. Before that, she won gold in Beijing 2008, bronze in London 2012, and bronze and silver in Rio 2016.
