"I recently saw a photo of Usyk..." The appearance of the Ukrainian puzzled Tyson Fury's team
Spencer Brown, the manager of British heavyweight Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs), believes that WBA, WBO, WBC and IBO champion Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) needs to make weight to defeat his opponent. Brown admitted that he was not impressed by the Ukrainian's size.
"I saw his photo recently, he looked small, but he's gaining weight quickly and will be around 102-108 kg for the fight. Last time Tyson weighed about 114 kg. This time he needs to be bigger, stronger, and in better shape, which he will do. And I also think size matters, although he wasn't that big last time. It's all very intriguing, I'm looking forward to the fight," Brown said in an interview with iFL TV.
The manager is confident that Fury's natural strength lies in the fact that he weighs about 124 kg.
"When I saw Tyson last week, he looked like a monster, just huge, without a drop of fat. I hugged his shoulder and thought: 'Wow, this man is just incredible'. I think that's how he should look. In his last fight, he looked very thin, long, and tall. We thought he won the fight, but it was 50-50. If he improves by 20%, he'll win the fight easily, and if he improves by 30%, it will be a convincing victory. The last time he had almost no sparring because of an eye injury," Brown summarized.
In the first fight, Oleksandr defeated Tyson by split decision 114:113, 113:114, 115:112 and became the absolute world heavyweight champion.
A month after the fight, on May 18, the Ukrainian was forced to give up the International Boxing Federation (IBF) belt, which was defended by Daniel Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs) on September 21, brutally knocking out Anthony Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs).
The rematch between Usyk and Fury is scheduled for December 21. We already know the fantastic prize money for the second fight.
