Oleksandr ChekanovNews
Harlan performs at the Olympics

Ukrainian fencer Olga Harlan failed to reach the final of the Olympic Games, which are currently taking place in Paris. The 33-year-old native of Mykolaiv did not overcome the barrier in the sabre competition in the face of the first seed and tournament host Sarah Balcer, to whom she lost 7:15.

The fight was incredibly intense. The Frenchwoman seized a slight advantage and managed to win the first half 8:5.

After a one-minute break, the Ukrainian tried to make a comeback, but the Frenchwoman, supported by the stands, managed to bring the match to victory.

Now Harlan will fight for the bronze medal in the French capital. The fight starts at 21:50 Kyiv time.

Prior to that, our sabre fencer defeated Japan's Shihomi Fukushima (15:9), ex-Russian Anna Bashta from Azerbaijan (15:6) and Hungarian Anna Marton (15:7).

As OBOZ.UA reported, two-time world champion and Tokyo 2020 Olympic epee champion Sun Yiwen from China sensationally lost in the 1/16 finals of the 2024 Olympic Games.
