Feast of the Presentation is the day when winter meets spring. And since the arrival of spring implies the appearance of sunshine, greenery, and good mood, you should know how to call it in properly.

Especially for this purpose, it is customary in Ukraine to make gingerbread honeycomb cakes, the aroma and sweetness of which should make spring come as soon as possible. FoodOboz tells you how to make gingerbread honey cakes for the Feast of the Presentation.

Ingredients

  • Honey - 50 gr
  • Flour - 250 gr
  • Egg - 1 pc
  • Yolk - 1 pc
  • Sugar - 75 gr
  • Soda - ½ tsp
  • Cinnamon - ½ tsp
  • Chopped nuts - a handful

Method of preparation

1. Pour the cinnamon into the honey and melt in a water bath.

2. Pour the honey into the flour, stir lightly.

3. Add eggs, sugar, baking soda and knead a stiff dough. Knead for 20-30 minutes.

4. Cover the dough with cling film and refrigerate for 1-2 days.

5. Roll out the dough into a layer, about 3 mm thick, and cut out the honey cakes with molds.

6. If desired, you can grease the honey cakes with protein and sprinkle with chopped nuts.

7. Put on a baking sheet floured with flour and bake for 10 minutes at 190-200 degrees.
