On Saturday evening, July 6, a gas distribution station caught fire in the Alushta district of occupied Crimea. It is burning between the villages of Maly Mayak and Vinogradny on the way to a nudist beach.

According to eyewitnesses, the fire was preceded by a powerful explosion. At the moment, the fire is visible for tens of kilometers, including in Alushta.

The so-called "regional headquarters" of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations clarified that "a gas distribution center is on fire near Alushta, and rescuers and foresters are working on the spot to prevent it from spreading."

The so-called "head of the Alushta administration" warns that the city may experience a full or partial gas cutoff due to the incident. Moreover, she does not rule out that the city will be left without gas for the whole day.

The fire is being extinguished by 34 rescuers. 11 units of equipment are used.

The occupying head of the Alushta mayor's office Ogneva confirmed that there will be no gas supply on July 7, and therefore it is necessary to "remain calm".

After one o'clock in the morning, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that the fire near Alushta was localized. The fire is being extinguished on an area of 1500 square meters, and "it is hampered by difficult access in mountainous terrain".

In turn, locals say that the fire has already spread to the forest.

At two o'clock in the morning, it was reported that an additional group of forces of Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations had been sent to "eliminate the fire on the gas pipeline and in the forest." According to local TV channels, a total of more than 50 people and 14 pieces of equipment are involved in the firefighting.

Currently, gas supply has been suspended for 30,000 Alushta subscribers and another 1,700 residents of the suburbs. These are 14 settlements in the city area.
