Yaroslava Maguchikh became the best in the high jump

Olympic champion Yaroslava Maguchikh called Paris a city that had a strong influence not only on her career but also on her life. After the 23-year-old native of Dnipro set a world record in the French capital and then won gold at the 2024 Games, she became very popular in Ukraine.

Maguchikh spoke about this in an exclusive blitz interview with OBOZ.UA. She emphasized that her favorite place on the entire planet is her native Dnipro, because she was born, grew up, and took her first steps in professional sports in this city.

"In fact, Paris is also partly a life-changing city, so the world record and the victory at the Olympics gave me a boost and opened up more opportunities. And many people began to recognize me. Finally, passers-by recognize me in Ukraine! I am very happy about this. That's why Paris has become such a part of popularizing sports in Ukraine. And the city of my heart, of course, is Dnipro. Because I was born, lived, grew up there and now I'm waiting to return there thanks to our defenders. It's hard," the athlete shared her revelations.

Earlier, the track and field athlete and world record holder in the high jump recalled the reaction of the Armed Forces soldiers to her donations after the 2024 Olympics.

As a reminder, OBOZ.UA showed rare photos of Yaroslava Maguchikh at school age and told how the athlete was called to marry.
