"Doesn't want to look like a fool": Britain suspects Fury wants to postpone fight with Usyk
The owner of the World Boxing Council (WBC) championship belt, Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs), is most likely ready to refuse to fight Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs). If the Gypsy King, as the Manchester native is called, makes such a decision, it will be a big problem for the whole sport.
This opinion was expressed by former British heavyweight world champion Johnny Nelson in an interview with the Pro Boxing Fans YouTube channel. In particular, the former boxer referred to the words of Tyson's father John Fury, who spoke about the decline in his son's career, as well as his difficulties in preparing for the fight with Usyk.
"You know that John Fury is a man with a big ego. He doesn't want to look like a fool, so he tells the truth. If Fury doesn't come out for the fight on February 17, we're going to have problems. Because if his father is saying this now, then there is a feeling that the fight may be postponed and Tyson's team may need more time to prepare. I wouldn't be surprised if they want to move forward a little bit in that direction," Nelson said.
On November 16, a press conference was held in London to officially announce the confrontation between the Ukrainian and the British. Afterward, our compatriot urged journalists not to ask him about Tyson. Usyk also spoke about what he would do after defeating Fury, who recorded a video message to the Ukrainian with a promise to knock him out by the end of the fourth round.
Later, news from the British boxer's training camp was announced. And the legendary Evander Holyfield explained why Usyk will win the fight against Fury. In turn, the Ukrainian did not disclose his tactical plan for the fight, but Oleksandr's camp told about the progress of his preparations.
In turn, the WBC has announced the contenders for the fight against the winner of the Fury-Usyk confrontation. In addition, the Ukrainian boxer alarmed British fans with his training.
As reported by OBOZ.UA, the sex symbol of world boxing, Australian Abani Bridges, made a categorical prediction for the confrontation between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury. And the British Anthony Joshua (26-3, 23 KOs) admitted who he will support in the fight.
