"Different result": boxing legend Lewis admits he was not impressed with Usyk – Fury rematch
Legendary heavyweight Lennox Lewis admitted that he liked the rematch between Oleksandr Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs) and Tyson Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs) less than the first fight. The British ex-boxer also noted that his compatriot made a mistake because he did not act as the number one in the ring.
Lewis said this in an interview with the Seconds Out YouTube channel. According to the former absolute world champion, the fight on December 21 was incredibly intense and close, but Fury could have won if he had put constant pressure on Usyk.
"Fury's strategy did not work. I would have acted differently. I liked the first fight better. This one was also good, it was very close. When it comes to heavyweight boxing and someone has beaten you for the first time, you have to put pressure on your opponent in the second fight. I think Tyson Fury should have put a little more pressure on Usyk, and it would have been a different result," Lewis said.
As a reminder, all three judges of the Usyk vs. Fury 2 fight gave the victory to the Ukrainian boxer with a score of 116-112. In addition, it became known what result was recorded by artificial intelligence. Former champion Anthony Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs) gave his version of the rounds.
This angered Tyson, who called himself the strongest with a difference of at least three rounds. The Briton also staged a demarche after the fight.
At the same time, impressive statistics of the opponents' punches in the fight were published. And the photo showed what Fury's face looked like after 100 missed punches from Usyk.
After the victory, the Ukrainian boxer decided on his next opponent and also confessed his rematch with Tyson.
