According to the World Boxing News portal, the International Boxing Federation (IBF), which had previously intended to deprive Usyk of his title, has now softened its position. The organization is waiting for the Ukrainian to apply for an exception to the rules of mandatory protection.

Promoter Oleksandr Krasiuk confirmed that he is preparing to file such a request. "Of course, we will ask for an exception," said Usyk's representative.

There are three reasons why the IBF may oblige the winner of the Usyk-Fury rematch to fight challenger Filip Hrgovic (17-0, 14 KOs) after the second confrontation between the Ukrainian and the Briton. First, the fans will once again see a fight for all the belts.

Secondly, the Croatian boxer will be able to claim several titles at once due to the delay in Oleksandr's defense of his belt. Thirdly, the organizers from Saudi Arabia are interested in this decision, as they will have the opportunity to put on another exciting show.

The day before, IBF President Daryl Peeples hinted that the federation was ready to make a special ruling on Usyk's obligations.
