Attempted murder of RMA head Prokudin reported in Kherson: SSU successfully prevents FSB's operation
The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) has announced that an assassination attempt on the head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr Prokudin, has been prevented. A local was recently detained in Kherson on suspicion of organizing the attempted assassination in cooperation with Russian special services.
This was stated by SSU Head Vasyl Maliuk during a meeting of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities, Dzerkalo Tyzhnia reports . According to Maliuk, the detained Kherson resident was adjusting an enemy FPV-drone that was supposed to hit Prokudin's car.
"A Kherson local was detained on April 10. He was organizing an assassination attempt on Prokudin together with the enemy's special services," Maliuk said.
The SSU Head noted that, according to the investigation, the Russians launched a new model of their FPV-drone from a depth of 12 km. A resident of Kherson adjusted the attack on Prokudin's car on the spot.
"This scoundrel was conducting visual surveillance on the spot, and he adjusted the drone to hit the Prokudin's car. All this was documented. He was detained at the stage of the completed assassination attempt. The enemy drone was jammed on time thanks to our electronic warfare devices," Maliuk assured.
He also said that the Service's colleagues are constantly thwarting enemy attempts to infiltrate critical infrastructure and defense industry facilities.
"One of the most extreme cases is the detention of an FSB agent in Dnipro who was filming a thermal power plant on his phone and preparing retaliatory strikes. Together with colleagues from the internal security of the National Police, we detained a former police officer in Zaporizhzhia who worked very closely with defense industry facilities. We detained several employees of Ukrzaliznytsia who provided information to the enemy on the logistical movement of weapons and munitions," Maliuk noted.
He added that in 2023, SSU officers identified and documented 47 enemy agent networks.
Earlier, it became known that the SSU exposed an FSB agent who was recruiting other convicts for subversive activities against Ukraine. The traitor was serving his sentence in a penal colony in the Zhytomyr region. After his release, he was supposed to facilitate the breakthrough of Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups (SRGs) and collect intelligence on the Defense Forces in northern Ukraine. While waiting to be released from prison, he was actively forming his "agent network" of imprisoned criminals who were nearing the end of their sentences.
