"An unprecedented case". A new decision on the Usyk-Fury fight has been made

Maksym InshakovNews
Tyson and Oleksandr will fight for the absolute crown on February 17

The winner of the historic fight for the absolute heavyweight title between Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs) and Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs) will receive a special new belt. On February 17, the undefeated boxers will fight for the WBC, WBA, IBF, and WBO championships for the first time in the history of the four-belt era.

According to The Sun, "to mark the occasion, His Excellency Turki Alsheikh, chairman of the General Authority of Entertainment in Saudi Arabia, unveiled a brand new championship belt."

A trophy decorated with gold and silver plating and black leather, inlaid with precious stones and bearing the names of previous champions.

All four boxing governing bodies (WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO) were taken into account in the design, as their names are present on the belt.

Former cruiserweight world champion and now boxing analyst Johnny Nelson has suggested that this fight between the British and Ukrainian will not take place.

Earlier this evening was scheduled for December 23, but Tyson Fury was cut during his fight with Francis Ngannou and the fight was postponed. Before that, Oleksandr Usyk fought Daniel Dubois, where he won by knockout.

The last absolute champion in heavyweight boxing was Lennox Lewis – in 1999, he held the WBA, WBC, and IBF belts, which was enough for such a title.

Former world champion in four weight categories Roy Jones Jr. expressed confidence that Oleksandr will face his main problem in the fight with Tyson – the lack of a powerful knockout punch.

On January 1, the BETSiE supercomputer, which predicted the results of the most important sporting events of 2024, named the winner of the Usyk-Fury mega-fight.
