The thirty-third Summer Olympics started in the French capital of Paris on Friday, July 26. Nearly 11,000 athletes from 206 countries are competing for 329 sets of medals in 32 sports. Tournaments in breaking, climbing, skateboarding, and surfing are being held for the first time.

The US team is trying to defend its title as the best team. In Tokyo, they took first place in the medal standings, only one gold medal ahead of the Chinese. In terms of the total number of medals, the Americans went far ahead, climbing to the podium 113 times.

Chinese athletes Huang Yuting and Shen Lihao won the first gold medal of Paris 2024. They won the mixed team archery competition. On the third day of the competition, Ukraine opened its scoring. Fencer Olha Kharlan won a bronze medal for our team.

The Americans remain the main contenders for first place in the French capital. The Gracenote supercomputer predicts that the number of medals won by US athletes will be 112 against China's 86.

Ukraine is represented in Paris by 140 athletes who will compete in 26 disciplines. Artificial intelligence predicts 13 awards for our compatriots, two of which will be gold. Fans are expecting special results from Greco-Roman wrestler Zhan Beleniuk, who will defend championship title, judo Daria Bilodid, and high jumper Yaroslava Maguchikh, who is considered the main favorite.
