You have definitely been storing avocados wrong: what to do to keep them fresh longer
Avocados are one of the most popular fruits in the world. It is used to make desserts, salads, and even main dishes. It is extremely healthy and tasty, but it spoils very quickly during storage.
Karl Graham, a food storage expert at Click Storage, told Express how to store avocados properly to keep them fresh for longer. Thanks to these simple recommendations, the fruit will retain its freshness for two weeks.
In order to keep avocados fresh for as long as possible, certain rules should be followed, namely:
1. Avocados should be left to ripen at room temperature. If you put them in the refrigerator right away, the fruit will change its flavor and texture.
2. It is very easy to check the ripeness of an avocado. You just need to twist the stem and look at the color of the fruit underneath. If the stem comes off easily and the fruit is green underneath, the avocado is fully ripe and ready to eat.
3. When the avocado is ready to eat, brush the top with lemon or lime juice. This technique will create a protective barrier against air, which accelerates rotting, as well as bacteria.
