Russia has disbanded the committee responsible for preparing athletes for the Olympics

The Russian government has dismissed the committee responsible for preparing the country's athletes for the Olympic and Paralympic Games. The relevant document, number 3139-r, signed on November 6, 2024, was published on the legal information portal on November 8.

The first paragraph of the order reads, "To disband the organizing committee that prepares Russian athletes for the Olympic and Paralympic Games."

At the 2024 Olympics in Paris, athletes from Russia were allowed to participate only in certain individual disciplines and only in a neutral status without the right to use the national flag, anthem or other national symbols.

In total, 15 athletes from Russia took part in the Olympics in Paris, and one of the awards won was a silver medal in women's doubles tennis.
