Perfect homemade meat pasties that don't absorb oil: better than the bought ones
Meat pasties are a very satisfying meat dish that every family knows about. The most popular are meat pasties from the markets – they are especially tasty, juicy, and golden. Even the dubious quality of the products used to make the dish often does not scare anyone. But it would be much better to make such products at home.
The idea of making delicious homemade meat pasties was published on the Instagram page of food blogger Yuliia Senych (yuliia.senych). You can make a dough that does not absorb oil and fries very well.
Ingredients:
- flour – 330-360g
- milk and water mixture (50/50) – 235 ml
- dry yeast – 4 g (0.5 tbsp)
- sugar – 0.5 tbsp
- salt – 0.5 tsp
- vegetable oil – 15 ml
Ingredients for the filling:
- minced meat – 200 g
- onion – 170 g
- water – 2-3 tbsp
- salt/pepper + frying oil
Method of preparation:
1. Make a well in the sifted flour and add the yeast, sugar, and salt. Pour in a mixture of milk and water (you can use either milk or water only) and oil.
2. Knead the dough for 5-7 minutes and put it into a greased bowl. The dough will be sticky, do not add flour immediately. It is better to grease your hands with oil to prevent it from sticking.
3. Leave to rise for 1.5-2 hours.
4. Chop the onion and add to the minced meat. To make the meat pasties even juicier, add 2-4 tbsp of water.
5. Put the dough on a surface greased with vegetable oil, knead, and squeeze out identical balls. It turns out about 9 pieces.
6. Spread, put 1 tbsp of the filling in the center and close.
7. At this time, heat the oil very hot. Spread the finished meat pasties and place them on a greased surface while the frying pan is heating.
8. Place the meat pasties with the seam facing down and fry until cooked for 5-7 minutes on each side.
