Perfect homemade crisps: add one special ingredient to the dough

Crispy verguns are a favorite treat for many children. Sweet dough products are always associated with family warmth and mom's love. The main thing in this dessert is to make elastic dough correctly so that it turns out crispy and does not absorb oil.

Food blogger Tetiana Yushyna shared her secrets for making crispy homemade verguns on her Instagram page. A win-win ingredient that makes the dough perfectly crispy is vodka.

Ingredients:

  • eggs - 3 pcs.
  • vodka - 1 tbsp
  • flour
  • vanilla - a pinch (optional)
  • oil - for frying
  • powdered sugar - for sprinkling

Method of preparation:

1. In a deep bowl, beat the eggs until smooth. Optionally, add a pinch of vanilla to give the dough a delicate flavor.

2. Add 1 tablespoon of vodka to make the verguns crispy.

3. Gradually add the sifted flour while kneading the dough. At first, mix with a spoon, and when the dough becomes thick, continue kneading with your hands.

4. Knead a soft, elastic dough that does not stick to your hands.

5. Divide the finished dough into 3-5 pieces for convenience.

6. Roll out each part into a thin layer, as thin as you can.

7. Cut the dough into strips. Make a cut in the center of each strip and roll one edge through the hole to form the characteristic shape of the verguns.

8. Heat a large amount of oil in a deep frying pan or cauldron. There should be enough oil to deep-fry the verguns.

9. Carefully place 2-3 verguns into the heated oil. Do not add too many at once, as they increase in volume.

10. Fry on each side for about 1 minute until golden brown. Avoid overcooking.

11. Place the finished verguns on paper towels to remove excess oil.

12. When they cool slightly, sprinkle them with powdered sugar.
