Homemade Roman pizza: how to make it better than in a restraurant
Pizza is one of the world's favorite fast foods. There are many varieties of it, and one of the most popular is Roman pizza. It has a thick base made of several types of flour.
A food blogger with the nickname dariiabulaievska shared how to make it at home using ready-made dough on TikTok. She also showed how to make two types of sauces and which filling would taste best with them.
Ingredients for white sauce
- butter - 45 g
- flour - 2 tbsp
- milk - 250 ml
- grated Parmesan cheese - 2 tbsp
- nutmeg - a pinch
- salt
- black pepper
Ingredients for the white sauce filling
- base for Roman pizza
- pear
- mozzarella
- walnuts
- blue cheese
- honey
Ingredients for the red sauce filling
- base for Roman pizza
- pizza sauce
- mozzarella
- prosciutto
- arugula
- burrata
- olive oil
How to cook
1. Prepare the white sauce. Melt butter over low heat, add flour and cook for 1-2 minutes, stirting constantly with a whisk.
2. Add milk and stir again.
3. Add parmesan, salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Mix everything thoroughly and set aside to cool. If the sauce thickens, add milk.
4. Put the pizza base on a baking sheet lined with parchment. Spread white sauce on one side, sprinkle with mozzarella, and add chopped pears and nuts, as well as blue cheese.
5. Spread the other side with red sauce and sprinkle with mozzarella.
6. Bake at 180 degrees for 7-10 minutes.
7. Put the prosciutto, arugula, and burrata on the base with the red sauce. Drizzle lightly with olive oil and sprinkle with black pepper.
8. Pour honey over the pizza with a white base.
