Gingerbread is one of the favorite desserts of both children and adults. Many people associate them with Christmas, but they taste great even in the summer when combined with milk or tea.

To make perfect homemade gingerbread, you need to know how to knead the dough properly. This is the recipe shared on Instagram by a food blogger named nadia korniienko.

Ingredients

  • Sugar for caramel - 300 gr
  • Sugar for dough - 200 gr
  • Egg - 1 pc
  • Yolk - 3 pcs
  • Boiling water - 200 ml
  • Butter 82% - 200 gr
  • Flour - 850 gr
  • Salt - ½ tsp
  • Soda - 5 g
  • Cinnamon - 2 tsp
  • Ground ginger - ½ tsp.

Method of preparation

1. Beat the egg, yolks and sugar (200 g) with a mixer until fluffy white mass.

2. In a heavy-bottomed saucepan over medium heat, melt the sugar (300 g) until it turns amber, add boiling water, and stir constantly.

3. Add all the spices and baking soda to the caramel mixture. The mass will begin to foam well. Reduce the temperature to a minimum, add the butter.

4. After it has melted, gradually add the beaten egg and sugar mixture. Stir constantly.

5. Remove the pan from the stove and add the sifted flour. Knead the dough.

6. Put the dough in a bag or wrap it well in cling film and refrigerate for at least 8 hours or overnight.

7. Roll out the dough to a thickness of 5 mm on a silicone mat and cut out the shapes.

8. Bake in a preheated oven from top to bottom at 180 degrees for 6-10 minutes, depending on the size of the gingerbread.
