"Tyson doesn't believe in it": legendary former world champion speaks out about disruption of Usyk-Fury fight

British Tyson Fury (33-0-1, 24 KOs) refused to fight Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs) because he did not believe in his own victory. In addition, our compatriot managed to catch the Gypsy King, as the Manchester native is known, on a bluff.

This opinion was expressed in an interview with the ESBR Boxing YouTube channel by former world heavyweight champion Johnny Nelson, who made history by being the first to defend the World Boxing Organisation (WBO) title 13 times in a row. He noted that at some point, Usyk simply got tired of Fury's constant demands.

"I think Tyson Fury will beat Oleksandr Usyk, but apparently Tyson Fury doesn't believe in it because he just took himself out of the fight. He got what he wanted - a 70-30 split of the fee. I don't know what the reason was, but Fury demanded everything he wanted. At one point, Usyk said: "My world does not revolve around you. End of story. That's how it turned out," Nelson said.

The day before, Usyk publicly commented on the cancellation of the fight with Fury for the first time. In turn, the promoter of British Anthony Joshua (24-3, 2 KOs), Eddie Hearn, expressed confidence that the Ukrainian's fight against Tyson would take place. The British champion also spoke about the fight with Oleksandr.

Earlier, the World Boxing Association (WBA) issued an ultimatum to Usyk and Fury and named the British Daniel Dubois (19-1, 18 KOs) as a mandatory contender for the Ukrainian's championship belt.
