"Everything exploded". The main reason for the cancellation of the Usyk-Fury fight has been revealed
The promoter of WBA, WBO, IBO and IBF heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs) said that the last straw in the failed negotiations with WBC champion Tyson Fury (33-0-1, 24 KOs) was a rematch. The Briton demanded that this clause be removed from the contract and that the fee be split 70-30 in his favour.
"Fury's side did as much as we did. They tried very hard, too. We all worked hard to make it happen. The rematch clause was just the point where everything blew up. During the rematch discussion, Usyk got fed up with everything. He said: "How many times do I have to humiliate myself in front of Tyson. Why do I have to do this? Enough is enough. Either he accepts what I say, or I quit." Tyson didn't accept it," Krasiuk told Sky Sports.
Krasiuk said a one-fight deal might be "acceptable, but the split shouldn't be 70/30."
"The money Usyk could make in this fight was not even close to the amount Sasha got in his last fight. For Usyk, the fight with Fury is definitely not a fight for money and it's definitely not his attempt to make money. It's his attempt to get the WBC belt," Krasiuk added.
Fury vs. Usyk could be one of the most significant fights in world boxing.
"We've been together with Usyk since 2013. We've been through hell, through fire, through water, through everything. We've never had a problem with our opponents, we've always been flexible," the promoter summed up.
Earlier, the World Boxing Association (WBA) issued an ultimatum to Usyk and Fury and named Briton Daniel Dubois (19-1, 18 KOs) a mandatory challenger for the Ukrainian's championship belt. Our compatriot after disrupting the fight with Tyson decided to leave his training camp.
As reported by OBOZREVATEL, on March 10, Fury delivered a tough ultimatum to Usyk's team. The native of Manchester, demanded 70% of the fee for the fight, and also said that he would add one percent for every 24 hours before signing the contract.
Oleksandr immediately agreed to the terms of the Briton, making him a pro-Ukrainian demand.
In response, Tyson came up with a new demand, suggesting that our compatriot exclude the rematch clause from the contract for the bout for the title of the absolute world heavyweight champion.
After this, British boxing fans massively criticized their compatriot for delaying negotiations on the organization of the fight between Usyk and Fury.
