Why dishwashing sponges have different colors: an interesting fact

Alina MilsentLife

Not too many people could join the dishwashing club. This household task is not usually categorized as one's favorite. Naturally, a dishwasher can significantly improve the situation, but its use can also become quite troublesome. Therefore, the most popular helpers, in this case, are good old, ever-dirty multi-colored sponges.

By the way, dishwashing sponges are painted in different colors for a reason, and not just for aesthetic effect. What does the role of color and why glassware are advised to wash with yellow sponges, OBOZREVATEL assorted?

The yellow color of sponges

If you've never paid attention to what color sponges wash dishes - in vain. You should not take a set of bright-colored sponges only as a marketing ploy. Cleaning experts say that the color of the sponge indicates its characteristics. We're talking about the hard side, which is used to wash away the toughest dirt and burnt food. This side is called a scotch brush. It is made of coarse fibers and glued to a soft foam base. The color of the scotch-brite indicates the abrasive property.

The "weakest" color is yellow. It denotes the softest sponges, which should be used to wash glassware. This material is gentle enough to wash stains and is not designed for old dirt.

Red Color

The red color of the scotchbrite indicates the medium stiffness of the sponge. This is the most optimal choice. These sponges are delicate enough to clean glassware but can handle more serious stains as well. These sponges usually do not scratch surfaces.

Green

A green scotch sponge will get rid of burnt food, dried grease, and the toughest stains. However, you should be careful, because excessively hard material can damage the coating and leave scratches.
