Jack Teixeira suspected of leaking secret Pentagon documents

Jack Teixeira, a 21-year-old member of the Massachusetts Air National Guard's intelligence wing, is the leader of an online gaming chat room where classified US intelligence documents have been leaked over the past few months. In his group Thug Shaker Central, 20 to 30 people, mostly young adults and teenagers, united because of their common love of guns, racist online memes and video games.

This was reported by The New York Times. It is noted that two US officials confirmed that investigators want to talk to pilot Teixeira about the leak of government documents, he may have information relevant to the investigation.

The publication spoke to four members of the Thug Shaker Central chat group, one of whom said he had known the person who leaked the information for at least three years, met him in person and called him OG. Friends described him as older than most of the group, who were teenagers, and the undisputed leader who had access to intelligence documents through his job. Although playmates did not identify the group's leader by name, a trail of digital evidence gathered by The Times leads to pilot Teixeira.

Also, according to community members, the documents only began to attract wider attention after one of the group's members took several dozen documents and posted them on a public online forum. From there, they were picked up by Russian-language Telegram channels and then by The New York Times, which was the first to report on them.

According to Reuters, citing a source familiar with the situation, Air National Guard member Jack Teixeira, suspected of leaking highly classified US documents, will be arrested in Massachusetts on Thursday.

"We are still investigating how this happened and the extent of the problem. Steps have been taken to take a closer look at how and to whom this type of information is being disseminated. We are still trying to assess what might be out there," the US official said.

As reported by OBOZREVATEL:

- the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine has responded to the leak of classified US documents that may relate to the war in Ukraine. The ministry said that a narrow circle of people always knows about the planning of military operations, so the risk of such information leakage is very low, although it cannot be denied;

- some of the US military documents leaked online did not pass the authentication test - the White House called them fakes. The verification is ongoing, and it is not clear what percentage has already been examined.
