Most Ukrainians have already decorated their Christmas trees before St. Nicholas Day to create a New Year's mood and cozy atmosphere at home. At first glance, there is nothing dangerous in this, but a small mistake when installing a tree can lead to negative consequences, namely, a fire.

Open fire

Make sure you choose the right place for your Christmas tree. The main thing is that there should be no open flames nearby, such as candles, fireplaces, etc. Even cigarette butts or matches can lead to negative consequences.

Soak the trunk

Before placing the Christmas tree in a special stand, soak the trunk with water and do it regularly throughout the entire period. This will help prevent the spread of fire in case of a fire.

Electrical appliances

One of the main decorations for the Christmas tree is electric lights. You need to pay attention to their serviceability and buy only high-quality decorations, because a single spark can lead to a fire. Also, never leave the lights on when you leave the house.

Heat source

Keep the Christmas tree away from radiators and heaters, as they dry out the tree and make it flammable.

Buy a fresh tree

Only choose a fresh tree that has green needles. If you run your hand over the tree and the needles are already starting to fall off, this is a sign of the aging process, and this creates risks for a quick fire.
