Meladze's test for the words "Glory to the Heroes" is over: what awaits the singer in Russia

Kateryna MalayLife
Russia has decided what will happen to Meladze after the phrase "Glory to the Heroes"

The Investigative Committee and the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation have completed the investigation of singer Valery Meladze. A few months ago, a video was posted online of the artist responding to a fan with the lyrics "Glory to the Heroes", but Russia said that he was not facing any penalties for this.

The Russians' demands to ban Meladze from entering Ukraine, seize his property and recognise him as a "foreign agent" have not been met. This was reported by Russian propaganda media (to see photos and videos, scroll to the bottom of the page).

"The competent authorities watched the video and decided that the case file did not contain sufficient objectively confirmed data that Valery Shotaevich had violated the law," Russia said.

Despite the hysteria of Russian patriots, the actor can earn money and live in Russia if he wishes. Interestingly, any demonstration of support for Ukraine is usually punishable in Russia. Those who disagree with the Kremlin's policy are tried, fined, recognised as "foreign agents" and publicly humiliated.

We would like to remind you that at a Russian New Year's party in Dubai, Valery Meladze responded to a pro-Ukrainian fan with the words "Glory to the Heroes" and was hated by Russians. After the scandalous video was spread in the Russian Federation, the singer was stripped of his Russian citizenship, recognised as a "foreign agent" and banned from airing his songs on TV and radio.

The next day, the artist had to comment on his actions. Meladze confessed his love for both peoples and said he did not want to please anyone.

According to the Russian media, Valery's fees after the scandal in the UAE have become much smaller. For now, the artist continues to perform in Russia at private events, anniversaries, weddings and parties of the rich. However, the cost of such services has fallen from 5 to 3 million rubles per hour. In addition, party guests are asked not to post photos and videos of Meladze's performances on social media.

Earlier, OBOZREVATEL wrote that producer Mikhail Yasinsky commented on the "apolitical" position of the Meladze brothers, who had an ambiguous reaction to the war in Ukraine. He called the musicians "oysters" and admitted that he had been boycotting them since 2014, and started disliking them in 2004.
