How to remove rust on metal

Rust is a natural process. When metal objects come into contact with oxygen and water, they undergo oxidation, forming various compounds: oxides, hydroxides, and oxide hydrates. Rust can affect all metal surfaces, but the most sensitive are the internal and external components of products, welds, and threaded connections.

The areas affected by corrosion freely retain moisture, which creates optimal conditions for further destruction of the products. Read the OBOZ.UA article to know how to remove rust on metal objects.

The necessary ingredients:

  • lemons
  • vinegar
  • aluminum foil
  • baking soda.

Step 1. Squeeze the juice from three lemons into a container.

Step 2. Next, cut several pieces of aluminum foil and dip them into the lemon juice.

Step 3. Wipe the rusted surfaces using foil to remove the top layer of dirt.

Step 4. When the brown spots are completely gone, treat the surface of the product with vinegar. If possible, completely immerse the metal part in vinegar and leave it overnight.

Step 5. Apply baking soda to a sponge and clean the surface thoroughly. Finally, wipe the affected areas with a clean cloth to remove any abrasive residue.

We also offer another effective way to fight rust. Its advantage is speed.

  1. Mix baking soda with water until a thick paste is formed.
  2. Apply the mixture to the affected areas and wait 20-30 minutes for the baking soda to work.
  3. Again, aluminum foil will come in handy. Wipe the surface with it to remove the residue.
