How to make indoor flowers stay healthy in winter: this simple procedure will help

Indoor dust reduces the amount of light that plants absorb in winter

Indoor plants, which do not seem to be threatened by frost and snow in winter, still need to be prepared for the winter season. This is what home gardening experts say.

The thing is that they receive less light in winter, and therefore need one simple care procedure. OBOZ.UA tells you about it. This is about wiping dust from the leaves.

Dust accumulation in any part of the house is never a good thing. Dust can cause allergies, affect breathing and can also prevent plants from staying healthy. In particular, even a barely visible layer of these particles prevents leaves from receiving the optimal amount of light necessary for photosynthesis.

This means a disruption of its normal life cycle for the plant and less oxygen from the living greenery at home for the owner. In addition, dust can prevent indoor flowers from growing. They continue to grow even in winter, although not as intensively.

And finally, the wiped leaves look shinier and more beautiful, which increases the decorative properties of the flowerpots. At the same time, during the procedure, you can carefully examine your green pets for diseases and pests.

The best tool for dusting plants is a microfiber cloth. It is soft enough, but it does not leave a lint on its own. This will remove as much dust as possible.

Place your open palm under the leaf you want to clean and support it in such a way that you do not break the plant or damage it. Then gently run the cloth over the top of the leaf blade.

If you have plants with small or fleecy leaves, it is better to clean them with a soft brush. Cacti can be cared for in the same way.

After you have cleaned your houseplants from dust, it is recommended to lightly rinse the leaves. To do this, rinse the same microfiber cloth and wring it out well so that it is a little damp. Wipe the leaves again using the same method described above. You can also moisten the stems in this way.

Some houseplants may benefit from spraying with cool, settled water from a spray bottle. But always make sure that direct sunlight does not fall on the flower after the water treatment and until the flower is completely dry as this can burn it. Therefore, it is better to wipe off dust in the evening.

In winter, try to dust your plants at least once a week. They will look and feel good all season long.
