How to refresh a stained down jacket: an effective way

Winter outerwear gets dirty quickly, especially on the sleeves. You need to carefully remove stubborn stains so as not to ruin the material. Most people take their down jackets to a dry cleaner, but you can save money and make an effective solution yourself.

OBOZ.UA has found an effective way to do this. You don't need to buy special chemicals, you just need simple ingredients.

To clean the stains on your jacket, prepare ammonia and dishwashing detergent. Pour one tablespoon of water into a container, add a teaspoon of alcohol and the same amount of dishwashing detergent. Stir everything thoroughly.

Next, you need to "warm up" the dirty surfaces of the down jacket. Do this with an iron or simply put the outerwear on a hot radiator. Dip a clean sponge in the solution and apply it to the stains. Be careful not to use too much solution. The fabric should be damp, not wet.

Leave the jacket on for an hour and a half to allow the solution to soak into the material and loosen stubborn dirt. Then wipe everything with a damp cloth; if the stains disappear, wipe again with a dry cloth.

If necessary, repeat the procedure again.
