How to clean a water bottle

Reusable water bottles are a real must-have in the fast-paced world of modern life. In recent years, they have gained incredible popularity and are available in a variety of styles, colors, sizes and brands. They are an environmentally friendly, convenient, fashionable, and even economical replacement for disposable plastic bottles.

However, there is one caveat: having purchased this useful accessory, we often forget about the need for regular disinfection. House Digest has told us how to clean a water bottle quickly and effectively.

Method 1

Pour a few teaspoons of salt into the bottle and add ½ cup of white vinegar. Put the lid on and shake vigorously. Then empty the bottle and wash it with water and dishwashing detergent to remove any residue. Rinse again with clean water and let the bottle dry completely.

Method 2

Fill the bottle with water and vinegar in a 1:1 ratio: the container should be filled with liquid. Shake the bottle several times and then leave it overnight. The next day, drain the solution and replace it with the mixture: ¼ cup of salt and lukewarm water (or hot water if the bottle is made of glass, aluminum, or stainless steel). Close the bottle and shake vigorously again.

The secret of the method

Salt and vinegar are effective cleaners due to their natural and non-toxic properties, as well as their ability to remove a variety of dirt. Vinegar, which is mainly composed of acetic acid, acts as a powerful disinfectant and odor neutralizer. Its acidic nature helps dissolve mineral deposits and stains that can build up in water bottles over time.

Additionally, the antimicrobial properties of vinegar make it very effective in killing bacteria, ensuring that the bottle is thoroughly disinfected. When combined with salt, which acts as a mild abrasive, the cleaning power of this method is further enhanced. The coarse texture of the salt cleans away dirt and residue, while the vinegar dissolves any remaining contaminants.

In addition, vinegar and salt are a safer alternative to harsh chemical cleaners. Many conventional cleaners contain chemicals that can leave harmful residues or emit fumes. At the same time, vinegar and salt are environmentally friendly ingredients and do not pose a threat to human health. Finally, kitchen ingredients are affordable and easy to use, making them an ideal solution for keeping reusable water bottles clean.
