Breed peculiarities and bathing

Smooth-haired breeds do not require frequent baths, particularly Boston terriers, Weimaraners and hounds.

Some dogs have what is called a "water repellent" coat. Golden Retrievers, Irish Spaniels and Otterhounds all have special undercoat grease that helps protect the skin from dirt and helps it dry quickly when wet.

6. Prepare towels in advance: lay one on the floor and wipe the coat with the other.
7. When using a hair dryer, use the cool setting to avoid burns on sensitive skin.
