Foil is a must-have for DIY enthusiasts: here's just the reason why

Foil will come in handy during repairs

Renovation is always a good idea, at least until it comes to practice. When working with paint, glue, wood stains, varnishes, and other materials often used by DIYers, all surfaces in the house can be spoiled by splashes.

However, aluminum foil can be used to protect countertops, floors, and furniture. House Digest has told more about this effective life hack.

Many people still use "grandma's" methods, protecting surfaces with old newspapers. This is a very unreliable method – the liquid instantly seeps through the paper. Foil creates a reliable protective film – and it's easy to roll it up and throw it away to clean up the mess.

Foil is a must-have for DIY enthusiasts: here's just the reason why

Unroll enough foil to cover the entire length of the surface. This life hack also comes in handy if you're crafting on a table or kitchen countertop, or if you're painting with children. If the foil doesn't cover the width of the surface, place another long piece to ensure that all areas are protected. You can put down masking tape to hold the two pieces together if they start to come apart. The foil can be gathered around the edges of the countertop to hold it in place, or you can tape it down.

The same method works for floors, furniture, or any work surface. For example, wrapping a door handle in aluminum foil would be a great way to keep it clean while painting the door or walls.

Plus, since the foil is oven-safe, you don't have to worry about hot glue penetrating it. Even if you're working with tiny materials like glitter, foil should make cleaning up easy. Just take the corners of the foil first and start rolling it up, keeping everything inside, and your kitchen countertop will be spotless.
