This is reported by the press service of the manufacturer. Aston Martin prepared a new generation of convertibles on its base after the recent presentation of the DB12 coupe. Traditionally, the novelty received the designation DB12 Volante.
A powerful V8 engine created by Mercedes-AMG specialists is under the hood. The 4-liter twin-turbo V8 develops 680 hp (500 kW). All this power is transferred to the rear wheels through a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission, and E-Diff electronic differential hapls to realize the potential of the power unit. The convertible is capable of reaching a speed of 325 km/h, and it takes only 3.7 seconds to accelerate to the first hundred.
The electric sunshade drive allows you to turn a closed car into an open one in 14 seconds at speeds of up to 50 km/h. The company's specialists have worked hard on acoustic comfort: the soft roof has an 8-layer construction. The standard version of the sunshade is black, but you can choose red, blue or two-tone black with silver inserts. You can choose between classic wood inlays or carbon fiber for the interior trim. In addition, the Aston Martin Q division can offer customized trim and equipment options.
The company's experts have developed a proprietary infotainment system with a 10.25-inch touchscreen display. Music lovers will appreciate the Bowers & Wilkins audio system with 11 speakers (390 watts), and you can order a variant with 15 speakers (1170 watts).
The car gets 21-inch forged wheels and Michelin Pilot S 5 rubber. Braking dynamics are provided by 400 mm diameter brake disks at the front and 360 mm at the rear. As an option, carbon-ceramic mechanisms can be ordered, which will reduce unsprung weight by 27 kg.
The Aston Martin DB12 Volante will make its official debut at the Monterey Car Week auto show in California. Production is scheduled for the third quarter of the year, and the first commercial copies will go to customers by the end of this year.
