The thing is that frozen dumplings are usually dry and not plastic. Therefore, throwing them into boiling water only makes the situation worse – they start to burst, boil, and stick together.

To avoid this outcome, dumplings should not be thrown into boiling water, but into plain hot water. If the dumplings are already in boiling water, don't worry - just add a glass of cold water to the pot.

Why you can't throw dumplings in boiling water
